The Coastal Recreation Trail follows the old railway line along Monterey Bay. It is flat, paved, and shared by walkers, runners, and cyclists, and it links many of the Peninsula's highlights, from Lovers Point in Pacific Grove past the Aquarium and Cannery Row to Fisherman's Wharf, and on toward Seaside.
It is one of the easiest ways to see the bay without dealing with parking, and bike and surrey rentals are available near the waterfront.
Good to know
- Keep right and pass on the left. The trail is busy on weekends.
- Watch the water near Cannery Row for otters in the kelp.
- The section from Fisherman's Wharf to the Aquarium makes a good first ride.
