17-Mile Drive loops through the gated community of Pebble Beach, linking Pacific Grove and Carmel. It is lined with pullouts for the coast's best-known views, including Bird Rock, Fanshell Overlook, and the Lone Cypress, and it passes some of the most famous golf courses in the world, including Pebble Beach Golf Links.

The drive is on private land, and a per-vehicle entrance fee is collected at the gates. Allow a few hours if you plan to stop at the overlooks.

Good to know

  • Pick up the map at the gate so you can find the numbered stops.
  • Late afternoon light on the coves is beautiful, and you can finish in Carmel for dinner.
  • Check the official site for current gate and fee details before you go.
